New York Mets Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The New York Mets finished up their Grapefruit League schedule today when they take the field against the New York Yankees at 1:05 PM. The Mets beat the Washington Nationals Sunday 10-1 and lost to the Miami Marlins 5-1 in split-squad games. The Mets will take on the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, March 28th at 1:10. The Mets will have Jose Quintana on the mound, while the Brewers will have Freddy Peralta on the hill. The Mets have made two moves this morning ahead of their Spring training finale.

OF/DH – J.D. Martinez

The 36-six-year-old veteran signed with the Mets on March 22nd and today was optioned to the Triple AAA Syracuse Mets. This is just a move to give Martinez some at-bats before moving up to the big league club due to signing so late in the spring. Martinez played in 113 games last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. He had 61 runs scored, 27 doubles, two triples, 33 home runs, 103 RBIs and slashed .271/.321/.572 with a .893 OPS on the year.

SS – Mark Vientos

Vientos was optioned to the Triple AAA Syracuse Mets this morning ahead of their game against the Yankees. Vientos played in 19 games this spring, he scored 10 runs, two doubles, and five home runs. nine RBIs. two walks, and slashed .232/.259/.536 with a .795 OPS on the spring. Last season he played in 65 games with the Mets with 19 runs, five doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 22 RBIs, 10 walks, 71 strikeouts, one steal, and slashed .211/.253/.367 with a.620 OPS on the year.
