
The New York Mets finished a series with the Detroit Tigers yesterday, taking two of three. They outscored the Tigers 24-19 in the three games. They will face the Cincinnati Reds this weekend, and on Sunday, they will feature their fifth-ranked prospect and third-ranked pitching prospect in the starting lineup. Reports are that right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat will be called up Sunday for his big league debut. Sproat this season in 26 appearances, with 25 of those coming as starts at Triple-A Syracuse, is 8-6. He posts a 4.24 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 113 strikeouts in 121 innings.

The Mets drafted Sproat in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Florida. Sproat made 56 appearances in college, with 37 of those coming as starts. He went 19-8 with a 4.27 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 242 strikeouts in 223.2 innings. Last season was his first season in the Mets system, where he jumped through quickly, starting at High-A, then going to Double-A before appearing at Triple-A. In 24 appearances, with 23 of those coming as starts, he went 7-4. He posted a 3.40 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 131 strikeouts in 116.1 innings. In 50 career minor league appearances with 48 of those coming as starts, he is 15-10 with a 3.83 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 244 strikeouts in 237.1 innings.
