The Minnesota Twins are off today after a much-needed series win over the Los Angeles Angels in which they outscored them 18-15. They are 4-6 in their last ten and will return home this weekend and take on the Cincinnati Reds and they will do so with a key bat returning to their lineup as they have activated outfielder Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list and in a corresponding move they have optioned outfielder Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul
OF – Byron Buxton
Buxton is in his tenth season of his career and is a .243 hitter with a .779 OPS; he has 153 doubles, 24 triples, 131 home runs, 346 RBI, 418 runs scored, 92 stolen bases, and 191 walks. This season in 90 games he’s hitting .275 with a .862 OPS; he has 23 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 49 RBI, 54 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 18 walks. In his rehab stint at Triple-A, he played in four games hitting .091 with a .258 OPS; he had one hit, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
OF – Austin Martin
Martin made his big league debut this season playing in 89 games hitting .252 with a .669 OPS; he had 16 doubles, a triple, a home run, 16 RBI, 41 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 20 walks. At Triple-A St. Paul he played in 19 games hitting .290 with a .669 OPS; he had three doubles, a home run, nine RBI, 16 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 21 walks.
