The Minnesota Twins made several impactful roster moves today ahead of the middle game against the Tigers, aiming to address their lineup and bullpen. The team activated second baseman Luke Keaschall from the 60-day injured list, brought back right-handers Thomas Hatch and Brooks Kriske, and optioned two players to Triple-A. Additionally, the Twins designated right-hander Darren McCaughan for assignment.

Luke Keaschall Returns After Strong Rehab
Luke Keaschall rejoined the active roster after missing a majority of the season with a fractured forearm. Before landing on the injured list, the soon-to-be 23-year-old infielder batted .368 with two RBI and four runs scored in seven games.
During his recent rehab assignment with the Triple-A St. Paul Saints, Keaschall showed no signs of rust. He hit .265 with four RBI and eight runs scored in 14 games. His return gives Minnesota an offensive and defensive upgrade at second base to get through the season.
Twins Reinforce Bullpen with Hatch and Kriske
Minnesota also activated right-handers Thomas Hatch and Brooks Kriske to bolster their bullpen depth. Hatch, acquired via waivers from the Kansas City Royals, has appeared in one big league game this season. He went an inning, giving up two runs on two hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out one. In 18 starts at Triple-A Omaha for the Royals, he went 5-6. Hatch posted a 4.22 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts in 91.2 innings.
Kriske, who was also claimed off waivers but from the Chicago Cubs, has appeared in four games and didn’t allow a run on two hits. He walked five and struck out four. In 23 games for the Cubs’ Triple-A affiliate, he went 3-0 with a 3.13 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 52 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.

Twins Make Room with DFA and Demotions
To clear space, the Twins designated Darren McCaughan for assignment. McCaughan, in three games with the Twins, posted a 1.69 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings. In 17 games at Triple-A, with ten of those coming as starts, he went 5-5 with a 5.35 ERA, a 1.60 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts in 72.1 innings.
Additionally, Minnesota optioned right-handed pitcher Noah Davis and center fielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. back to Triple-A. Davis allowed five earned runs in three innings with the Twins. Keirsey this season hit .110 with a .324 OPS. He had two home runs, six RBI, ten runs scored, eight stolen bases, and two walks.
