The Minnesota Twins started their series with the New York Mets last night. They suffered a 5-1 loss to open things. They will play the middle game today with Bailey Ober on the mound facing Tylor Megill for the Mets. This morning, they signed Tyler Beede to a minor league deal.

Tyler Beede

Beede was drafted 14th overall by the San Francisco Giants in the 2014 MLB Draft. Beede went to Vanderbilt, where in three seasons he made 52 appearances with 47 of those coming as starts, going 23-14 with a 3.56 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 287 strikeouts in 286 innings. He won two College World Series, winning in 2013 and 2014 when the Commodores went back-to-back. Beede was with the Giants up until 2021. He made 33 appearances, with 24 of those coming as starts, going 5-11 with a 5.39 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and 128 strikeouts in 135.1 innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed him off waivers in 2022. He made 25 appearances, with five of those coming as a start with Pittsburgh. He was 2-5 with a 5.23 ERA, a 1.55 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 51.2 innings. In 2023, he pitched in Japan playing for Yomiuri in the JPCL and JPEL. He made 37 appearances, going 0-7 with a 4.08 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 75 innings. Last season, he pitched with Cleveland, making 13 appearances, going 1-0 with an 8.36 ERA, a 1.79 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 14 innings. Also, last season at Triple-A, he made 12 appearances with five of those coming as starts, going 0-4 with an 11.28 ERA, a 2.19 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.
