Milwaukee Brewers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

As the Brewers prepare to play the second game of the three-game set with the Chicago Cubs management announced four roster moves ahead of the game. The Brewers enter play today sitting atop the National League Central with a 20-11 record on the young season. This would be a great series to win against the Cubs who currently sit in second place in the division.

OF – Joey Wiemer

The Brewers place Wiemer on the 10-day injured list with left knee discomfort before the second game of the series with the Cubs. He has played in 16 games this season with two runs scored, four hits, one walk, eight strikeouts, and one steal. He has slashed .174/.208/.174 with a .382 OPS with the Brewers.

LHP – Jared Koenig

The Brewers have recalled Koenig from the Nashville Sounds today. He has pitched in five games from the Brewers this year earning two wins over 8.2 innings of work. He has allowed nine hits, one earned run, two walks, and struck out four. He has a 1.04 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP with the Brewers.

RHP – Corbin Martin

The Brewers optioned Martin today back to the Nashville Sounds. He did not appear in a game yet for the Brewers. With Nashville in Triple-A, he has appeared in four games with one loss on the year. He has pitched 4.1 innings with a 4.15 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP.

SS – Andrew Monasterio

The Brewers recalled Monasterio from the Nashville Sounds today. In his previous four games with the Brewers during his last callup he had played in four games with two runs scored, two walks, and one strikeout. With Triple-A he has slashed .243/.362/.297 with a .659 OPS with Nashville.

Wrap Up

The Brewers continue to shuffle their roster around to move guys in and out as the bullpen or lineup has holes. The management is doing something right as of right now they have a two-game lead over the Cubs in the division and look to widen that gap today in the second game of the series. The team does a good job of moving the right players up and down at the right time depending on the needs of the big league club. I want to see more of Monasterio this time around and would like to see him get his bat going as he does have decent plate skills.
