Marlins vs. Phillies Series Preview

Pitchers:

Starters:

27 – Edward Cabrera – RHP (7-7, 4.24 ERA)
29 – Braxton Garrett – LHP (9-7, 3.66 ERA)
44 – Jesus Luzardo – LHP (10-9, 3.63 ERA)

The Marlins have listed only three starters on their roster but have announced just two starters, with Jesus Luzardo getting game one and Braxton Garrett getting game two, so you’d have to imagine Edward Cabrera is getting game three. The Marlins will be without their ace and future ace on this playoff run with Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez done for the year, so these three will have to lead the charge.

Bullpen:

19 – David Robertson – RHP (2-4, 5.06 ERA)
31 – Huascar Brazoban – RHP (5-2, 4.14 ERA)
35 – A.J. Puk – LHP (7-5, 3.97 ERA)
43 – Andrew Nardi – LHP (8-1, 2.67 ERA)
48 – Steven Okert – LHP (3-2, 4.45 ERA)
60 – Ryan Weathers – LHP (0-2, 7.62 ERA)
66 – Tanner Scott – LHP (9-5, 2.31 ERA)
62 – George Soriano – RHP (0-0, 3.81)
84 – JT Chargois – RHP (1-0, 3.61 ERA)

This Marlins bullpen should be enough for Skip Schumacher to keep his team in games against the Phillies. It won’t be easy, as the Phillies have a talented lineup, but the bullpen should be able to do their job.

Hitters:

Catchers:

4 – Nick Fortes (.204/6/26)
58 – Jacob Stallings (.191/3/20)

Infielders:

1 – Garrett Hampson (.275/3/23)
3 – Luis Arraez (.354/10/69)
5 – Jon Berti (.296/7/33)
9 – Josh Bell (.270/11/26)
10 – Yuli Gurriel (.247/4/28)
18 – Joey Wendle (.212/2/20)
36 – Jake Burger (.303/9/28)
63 – Xavier Edwards (.291/0/3)

Outfielders:

2 – Jazz Chisholm Jr. (.252/19/52)
7 – Jesus Sanchez (.253/14/52
12 – Jorge Soler (.250/36/75)
14 – Bryan De La Cruz (.259/19/78)

This lineup you can never count out; they have no quit and always seem to find themselves back in games you thought they were out of, which has made them fun to watch. If the lineup clicks right from the get-go, starting with Jazz Chisholm, Jorge Soler, and Bryan De La Cruz, this team will be a problem, and on top of that, they are getting the National League batting champion Luis Arraez back, which adds to the talent with the bats.
