The Miami Marlins today will play the first game of their three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians with Ryan Weathers taking the ball against Logan Allen for the Guardians. Ahead of tonight’s game with the Marlins riding a four-game losing streak, they announced the following roster moves. Shortstop Tim Anderson has been placed on the bereavement list and infielder Otto Lopez has been placed on the paternity list. The two players coming up are infielders Tristan Gray and Xavier Edwards; Edwards will get the start at shortstop tonight and bat leadoff.

Marlins Roster Moves By The Numbers 

SS – Tim Anderson 

Anderson is on a one-year deal with the Marlins. This season he is hitting .188 with a .427 OPS; he has three doubles, six RBI, 11 runs scored, three stolen bases, and seven walks. 

INF – Otto Lopez

Lopez is in his first season with the Marlins after being claimed off waivers on April 4th. Through 35 games he is hitting .295 with a .745 OPS; he has three doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI, 11 runs scored, four stolen bases, and four walks. 

INF – Tristan Gray 

Gray this season has played in five games with the Marlins this season going 0-5. With Jacksonville he is hitting .216 with a .777 OPS; he has eight doubles, one triple, 12 home runs, 31 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 17 walks. 

INF – Xavier Edwards 

Edwards made his debut last season appearing in 30 games hitting .295 with a .663 OPS; he had three doubles, three RBI, 12 runs scored, five stolen bases, and three walks. This season with Jacksonville he is hitting .365 with a .892 OPS; he has four doubles, a triple, three RBI, four runs scored, three stolen bases, and four walks.
