Miami Marlins Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Miami Marlins are coming off a rough series against the Pittsburgh Pirates in which they were swept in all four games and were outscored 31-17. Today they start a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels with Max Meyer on the mound for the Marlins. Today before that series starts at 6:40 PM EST tonight they made the following roster moves.

  • RHP Vladimir Gutierrez Designated for Assignment
  • LHP Kent Emanuel selected from the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp

Marlins Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Vladimir Gutierrez

Gutierrez signed with the Marlins on February 22nd after spending his whole career with the Cincinnati Reds and their system. Entering this season, he hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2022 when he made ten appearances with eight coming as starts going 1-6 with a 7.61 ERA, a 1.90 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 36.2 innings. This season with the Marlins through the four games he appeared in one game going four innings giving up three runs on three hits; he walked two and struck out four.

LHP – Kent Emanuel

Emanuel was signed by the Marlins on February 7th, he spent time in the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations. He made his big league debut in 2021 with the Astros and in ten games he went 1-0 with a 2.55 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 17.2 innings; that would be his only stint in the big leagues until now. To start the season he was assigned to Jacksonville but in their opening weekend series, he didn’t pitch.
