The Kansas City Royals look to snap a four-game losing streak today as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals in the rivalry series finale. The Cardinals have outscored them 11-3 so far in the first two games. Michael Wacha will take the mound this afternoon for the Royals and Matthew Liberatore will go for the Cardinals today. The Royals are five and a half games back from the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Before today’s game, the Royals have announced two roster moves. Veteran Chris Stratton has been designated for assignment after struggling to start the year on the mound. They have recalled a right-hand pitcher from Omaha to take his place in the bullpen.

Jonathan Bowlan

The Royals have recalled right-hand pitcher Jonathan Bowlan from Triple-A ahead of their series finale with the Cardinals today. Bowlan has made one appearance this year for the Royals on April 27th against the Astros. He worked two innings and struck out one. He has pitched in 13 games for the Omaha Storm Chasers in Triple-A. Bowlan has one win, a 2.08 ERA, and a 0.98 WHIP on the year. Bowlan has pitched 17.1 innings with 25 strikeouts and held opponents to a .188 batting average against.

Chris Stratton

The Kansas City Royals have designated the right-hand pitcher Chris Stratton for assignment. In 12 games for the Royals this year Stratton recorded a 7.94 ERA. He pitched 17 innings allowing two home runs, eight walks, and struck out 16. Stratton allowed a 2.18 WHIP and a .377 batting average against.
