Kansas City Royals roster Moves 12/15

Kansas City Royals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Kansas City Royals continue to add a pitcher and an outfielder this offseason this afternoon.

OF – Hunter Renfroe

Renfroe and the Royals seem to be finalizing a two-year $13 million deal, which includes an opt-out after the first year, which makes this a one-year deal. The soon-to-be 32-year-old spent the 2023 season between the Los Angeles Angels and the Cincinnati Reds.

Renfroe will provide a veteran presence in the outfield for the Royals while providing terrific defense and adding another Power bat from the right side of the plate. He can help groom Nelson Velazquez, the 24-year-old, and should benefit from Renfroe being in the clubhouse.

RHP – Michael Wacha

The Royals have also agreed to a similar style two-year deal with a one-year opt-out with veteran Right-Hand pitcher Michael Wacha worth $33 million, as Jeff Passan reported.

Last season, Wacha pitched for the San Diego Padres and was impressive during his time in San Diego. He should provide stability to a rotation revamped this off-season, as the Royals Signed Seth Lugo to a multi-year contract just days ago.

Conclusion

The Kansas City Royals have been busy this week, adding Seth Lugo and Michael Wacha. Their starting rotation is taking shape with Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, Brady Singer, and Jordan Lyles in the mix. I like the additions and think adding Renfroe to a young blend of outfielders will be a benefit with his defense, leadership, and lineup flexibility, as he can play corner outfield spots as well as be a right-handed DH when needed.
