The Arizona Diamondbacks have trimmed down their roster today, March 14th, 2025. They have optioned three players to play for the Reno Aces in Triple-A. The moves featured Jorge Barrosa. He had an impressive spring. Jorge Barrosa was optioned to Triple-A to start his season before today’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. The Diamondbacks have a 10-10-1 record so far this spring. They look to finalize their opening day roster over the next 10 days or so.

Jorge Barrosa

The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned Jorge Barrosa today, March 14th, 2025. This move comes ahead of their Cactus League game against the Cincinnati Reds. Barrosa will be heading to Triple-A to play for the Reno Aces. So far this spring the outfielder has had 25 at-bats. Jorge Barrosa has scored eight runs and made eight hits. He accumulated one RBI and two steals. He has had an impressive .320 batting average in the spring and will hope to continue his hot start in Triple-A.

Grae Kessinger

The Diamondbacks have optioned Kessinger to the Reno Aces where he will start the year in Triple-A. The Third baseman has had 17 at-bats this spring with six runs scored, five hits, and two RBIs. He finished spring training with the D-Backs with a .294 batting average. Over the past two seasons he has had 49 games total in the big leagues all with the Houston Astros. He holds a .131 batting average and a slash line of .243/.213/.456 over the past two years in the big leagues.

Tommy Henry

The Diamondbacks have optioned Tommy Henry to the Reno Aces in Triple-A to start the year. This spring in three games and two starts he recorded two losses. In those three games, he worked 7.1 innings of work while striking out six, he did finish with a 7.36 ERA this spring. Henry has big-league experience. He made seven starts last year for Arizona. He also had a combined 32 starts over 35 appearances for the Diamondbacks over the past three seasons. Henry has had very little success in the big leagues unfortunately though. In those 35 games pitched, 32 starts he has a 10-11 record with a 5.11 ERA. He will head down to Reno in Triple-A. There, he will join Jorge Barrosa and Kessinger. Henry will see if they can start missing more bats.As he aims to work his way back to the big leagues. Last year opponents in the big leagues had a .312 average against the lefty.

Summary

The Diamondbacks are gearing up for opening day which is right around the corner. The moves today optioning down Jorge Barrosa and Kessinger show the level of talent this Diamondbacks team has this year. Both players had decent springs. The Diamondbacks look to get back into the playoffs after a disappointing 2024. Competing in the tough NL West division won’t be easy. However, this team will certainly be fun to watch. They will look to surprise folks again this year just like in 2023. Keep an eye on Jorge Barrosa’s start with Reno. If he can continue to hit, he could be a name to watch for an early season call-up.
