
The Chicago Cubs do not just have a very talented outfield roaming at Wrigley Field. Owen Caissie, the Cubs’ top prospect. He currently is playing with Iowa in Triple-A. Caissie earned International Player of the Week honors this past week. Caissie’s name will be read and heard frequently in the upcoming days and weeks with the trade deadline approaching. Given that, there is a logjam at the big league level in the outfield for Chicago. This top prospect could be on the move in the upcoming weeks. Trading Caissie is certainly possible. The team needs starting pitching heading into the second half of the season.

Owen Caissie
The left-handed hitting left fielder started off July with a bang. Caissie played in five games with 25 at-bats for the Iowa Cubs. He finished the week with four home runs, six RBI, two doubles, and four walks. Caissie ended the week with a .476 batting average and a 1.703 OPS. The International League named him Player of the Week. Caissie has been very productive for the Iowa Cubs this year with a .280 batting average and a .944 OPS. Caissie also has 52 runs scored, 73 hits, 16 home runs, 39 RBI, and three steals on the year.
The Chicago Cubs have two outfielders as starters for this year’s All-Star Game. They are Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker. Ian Happ provides a consistent bat and gold glove performance, roaming in left. Caissie does not have a clear path to regular at-bats with the Cubs as the roster stands today. Caissie is MLB’s 43rd-ranked prospect in all of baseball, and he will play in this Sunday’s All-Star Futures Game.
