The Houston Astros will try and avoid the sweep when they take on the Kansas City Royals this afternoon. The Astros are 13-13 on the year and have won six of their last 10 games. Houston sits in third place in the AL West. They are a game and a half back from the Seattle Mariners. After the series finale with the Royals, they will head home. There, they will have a quick three-game series with the Detroit Tigers. Then, they will head back out on the road. They will play the White Sox and Brewers for three games each. Before the series finale with the Royals, the Astros have announced two roster moves. They are placing one pitcher on the injured list and activating another from the injured list in a swap.

Forrest Whitley

The Astros have placed right-hand pitcher Forrest Whitley on the 15-day injured list. He has a left knee sprain. This move is retroactive to April 24th. Whitley has pitched on two innings for the Astros this year in his lone game of action. The right-hander struck out two and did not allow any runs or hits in his game of action.

Kaleb Ort

The Houston Astros have activated Kaleb Ort from the 15-day injured list today. This comes ahead of the series finale with the Royals. Ort returns to the team to make his 2025 season debut. He has been on the injured list since spring training after suffering an oblique injury. He has made seven rehab appearances in Triple-A for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Ort has a 2.84 ERA, a 1.89 WHIP, and a .269 batting average against. Ort has pitched 6.1 innings allowing seven hits, two earned runs, two home runs, five walks, and struck out five.
