
The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals played the middle game of their three-game series this weekend. The Cardinals took the first game last night, 3-2. Ranger Suarez got the ball for Boston as he faced Kyle Leahy for the Cardinals.

Red Sox vs. Cardinals
First Three
The Red Sox went down in order in the first three innings. The Cardinals, on the other side, had a base runner in the first two innings before going down in order in the third.
Middle Three
The Red Sox struck in the fourth. Roman Anthony walked to lead off the inning. Caleb Durbin was retired, then Jarren Duran singled, and Willson Contreras doubled, bringing home Anthony and Duran to make it 2-0. The Red Sox went down 1-2-3 in the next two innings while Ranger Suarez kept the Cardinals quiet in his six innings of work. He allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out six.
Last Three
Greg Weissert got the seventh and shut down the Cardinals in order. The Cardinals got on the board in the eighth as Jordan Walker hit a solo home run to make it 2-1. The Red Sox exploded in the ninth. Trevor Story led off with a walk. After a quick out, Carlos Narvaez singled, then Ceddanne Rafaela singled home Story, and Roman Anthony singled to load the bases. Caleb Durbin singled home Rafaela and Narvaez, then Jarren Duran singled home Anthony, and Contreras singled home Durbin, and that made it 7-1 Red Sox. Ryan Watson got the ninth; he allowed a single and hit a batter, but escaped the threat as the Red Sox got back in the win column.
Player of the Game
Willson Conteras went 2-4 against his former team with three RBI. He doubled as well.
