Big 3

The big three were all slated to play today but Roman Anthony was removed from the lineup. Anthony was hit by a pitch yesterday and was sore this morning so as a precaution he was pulled. Kristian Campbell hit second and played second base. Marcelo Mayer hit third and played shortstop. Campbell went in 0-3 with a groundout and two flyouts in five innings. Mayer went 1-3 with an infield single, a flyout, and a strikeout in five innings. Campbell is a name to watch for the Opening Day roster. Mayer is expected to start the season at Triple-A Worcester.

Other Prospects

Another prospect fans have been hearing about is Jhostynxon Garcia who is nicknamed “The Password”. In his first at-bat, he made nice contact but flew out to center field. In his second at-bat, the bases were loaded. He pulled a two-RBI single to left field. This hit tied the game at 2-2. Garcia scored as well later on. Trayce Thompson stole second base, and the throw went to center field. His run made it 4-2. Catcher/First Baseman Nathan Hickey had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Pitching

Brian Van Belle got the start going 1.2 innings. He left in the top of the second with runners on. Zach Bryant came in and hit a guy and allowed a two-run single which got charged to Van Belle. Van Belle finished giving up two runs, none earned on a hit; he walked one and struck out three. Bryant went 0.1 innings. Jacob Webb went two innings not allowing a hit or a walk, he struck out two. Wyatt Mills had the fifth striking out one. Grant Gambrell got the sixth and struck out two. Hobie Harris got a 1-2-3 to shut the door for the Red Sox.
