Detroit Tigers Six Non-Roster Invitees

The Detroit Tigers extended non-roster invitations to six Top 30 Prospects for big league camp. The rankings come from MLB Pipeline’s rankings. Four of the six players are in Inside the Diamonds Top 10 Detroit Tigers prospect rankings with RHP Jackson Jobe who ranks third, 2B Jace Jung who ranks fourth, RHP Ty Madden who ranks sixth, and OF Justyn-Henry Malloy who ranks seventh. The other two players who were invited were LHP Brant Hurter and OF Justice Bigbie.

3.) RHP – Jackson Jobe

Last season he pitched across three levels as he was coming back from an injury. He pitched on the Tigers rookie ball team, Single-A Lakeland, High-A West Michigan, and Double-A Erie. He made 16 starts going 2-4 with a 2.81 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, a 1.3 HR/9, a 0.8 BB/9, and 11.8 K/9 in 64 innings. In the fall he played in the Arizona Fall League for Salt River making four starts going 3-1 with a 2.87 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, a 1.1 HR/9, a 2.9 BB/9, and a 10.9 K/9.

4.) 2B – Jace Jung

Jung in 2023 played for High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie playing in 128 games and he slashed .265/.376/.502 with a .878 OPS; he had 27 doubles, two triples, 28 home runs, 82 RBI, 74 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 79 walks. In the fall he played in the Arizona Fall League and in 15 games he went 10-50 with two doubles, a home run, eight RBI, and nine runs scored.

6.) RHP – Ty Madden

Madden spent all of 2023 at Double-A Erie helping lead the SeaWolves to the Eastern League Championship making 26 appearances with 25 of those as starts going 3-4 with a 3.43 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, a 1.2 HR/9, a 3.8 BB/9, and an 11.1 K/9 in 118 innings.

7.) OF – Justyn-Henry Malloy

Malloy in his first season with the Tigers system after being acquired from the Braves played in 135 games at Triple-A Toledo and slashed .277/.417/.474 with a .892 OPS; he had 25 doubles, one triple, 23 home runs, 83 RBI, 89 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 110 walks.

LHP – Brant Hurter

Hurter like Madden spent the whole season at Double-A Erie and made 26 starts going 6-7 with a 3.28 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, a 0.5 HR/9, a 2.5 BB/9, and a 10.1 K/9 in 118 innings.

OF – Justice Bigbie

Bigbie spent time across three levels last season playing with High-A West Michigan, Double-A Erie, and Triple-A Toledo playing in 115 games and he slashed .343/.405/.537 with a .942 OPS; he had 25 doubles, one triple, 19 home runs, 78 RBI, 81 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 42 walks. In the fall he played in the Arizona Fall League and in 20 games he went 21-72 with three doubles, one home run, 12 RBI, and ten runs scored.
