
The Detroit Tigers are 6-6 in Grapefruit League play. Today they will face the Toronto Blue Jays with Jackson Jobe getting the start. Jobe is making his third start of the Spring. He is 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP. They added more pitching to the roster as they’re reportedly signing right-handed pitcher Joseph Urquidy. The 29-year-old elected free agency after the Houston Astros outrighted him. He won’t return until July at the earliest after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Jose Urquidy
Urquidy is entering his sixth season. He spent his first five seasons in Houston. In the five season he made 79 appearances with 70 coming as starts going 27-16, with a 3.98 ERA, a 4.51 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP, and 326 strikeouts in 405 innings. Last season before his injury he made 16 appearances with ten of those coming as starts going 3-3 with a 5.29 ERA, a 5.38 FIP, a 1.43 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts in 63 innings. He won the 2022 World Series with the Astros. In 15 career postseason appearances with eight of those coming as starts, Urquidy is 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA, a 5.58 FIP, a 1.23 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts in 46.1 innings. In the 2022 World Series, he made one appearance going three shutout innings and giving up one hit; he walked one and struck out four.
