Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The calendar has flipped to September and the Detroit Tigers are sitting five games back of the final wild card spot and are very much still in the race for the final playoff spot. With the calendar also changing the rosters expand from 26 to 28 and the Tigers’ two call-ups are Justyn-Henry Malloy and Ricky Vanasco.

UTL – Justyn-Henry Malloy

Malloy was acquired by the Tigers in the trade that sent Joe Jimenez to Atlanta. He made his debut this season and has played in 57 games hitting .217 with a .698 OPS; he had six doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base, and 21 walks. At Toledo this season he’s played in 55 games hitting .258 with a .860 OPS; he has 16 doubles, seven home runs, 31 RBI, 27 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 43 walks. 

RHP – Ricky Vanasco 

Vanasco was purchased by the Tigers on July 29th from the Dodgers. In Los Angeles he made two appearances posting a 13.50 ERA, a 2.17 FIP, a 1.50 WHIP, a 0.0 BB/9, and a 4.5 K/9 in two innings. Since joining Detroit he’s appeared in nine games at Toledo going 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, a 4.8 BB/9, and a 10.4 K/9 in 13 innings.
