Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers start a three-game series against the Houston Astros tonight. The Tigers are 9-7 in August, averaging 4.5 runs per game while allowing 4.6 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, the Tigers are activating reliever Alex Lange off the injured list. To make room for Lange, left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn is being optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Lange hasn’t pitched since last season after suffering a right lat tendon tear.

Alex Lange

Lange last season made 21 appearances, going 0-3. He had two saves, a 4.34 ERA, a 1.77 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. During his rehab, he’s made 17 appearances with two of those coming as starts between High-A West Michigan and Triple-A Toledo. He went 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 15.1 innings. In 195 career games, he is 15-15 with 29 saves, a 3.72 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and 221 strikeouts in 183.2 innings.

Bailey Horn

Horn season has made five appearances on three separate stints, posting a 1.50 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and six strikeouts in six innings. In his most recent stint, he appeared in two games, and he didn’t allow a run or a hit. He walked four and struck out three in 3.1 innings. In 28 games with six of those coming as starts between Single-A Lakeland and Toledo, he went 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts in 37 innings.
