Ahead of tonight’s game, the Tigers are recalling right-handed pitcher Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo. He will start the game.
To make room for Montero, they are optioning left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn to Triple-A Toledo. Montero has appeared in 11 games for Detroit, with six of those coming as starts. He went 3-1 with a 4.02 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts in 56 innings. In five starts at Toledo, he is 2-3 with a 5.87 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 23 innings. Horn in three games with the Tigers posted a 3.38 ERA, a 2.25 WHIP, and three strikeouts in 2.2 innings. In 19 minor league games, he is 1-1 with a 4.67 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Keider Montero
Montero was a key for the Tigers last season, appearing in 19 games with 16 of those coming as starts. He went 6-6 with a 4.76 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 98.1 innings. In the playoffs, he made two appearances, one of which those as a start. He didn’t allow a run on one hit. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.
Bailey Horn
Horn in 148 career minor league games is 16-13 with a 4.31 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 305 strikeouts in 240.1 innings. In 21 career big league games, he is 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA, a 1.84 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.
