Ahead of today’s game the Tigers optioned shortstop Trey Sweeney to Triple-A Toledo and activated Matt Vierling from the injured list. Sweeney this season in 70 games was hitting .221 with a .594 OPS. He had five doubles, a triple, four home runs, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 18 walks. Vierling in four games this season with the Tigers hit .182 with a .364 OPS. He had two RBI. He’s been out since May 27th with right shoulder inflammation. In seven rehab games, he hit .207 with a .465 OPS. He had two RBI, four runs scored, and a walk.

Matt Vierling
Vierling is hitting .258 with a .723 OPS in three seasons with the Tigers. He has 49 doubles, ten triples, 26 home runs, 103 RBI, 143 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, and 85 walks.

Trey Sweeney
Sweeney, whom the Tigers acquired last season from the Dodgers, played in 36 games, hitting .218 with a .642 OPS. He had five doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI, 11 runs scored, two stolen bases, and seven walks.
