The Detroit Tigers are coming off a tough series against the Philadelphia Phillies and now head west for a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers managed to win one game in their series against the Phillies behind a brilliant start by Tarik Skubal in the middle game. The Tigers were outscored 15-7, outside of the fifth inning in the middle game Detroit only scored three runs in 26 innings. In the finale yesterday they had Tyler Holton start going 1.2 innings then turning it over to Will Vest for 1.1 innings before Keider Montero came in after being called up from Triple-A Toledo, today the Tigers have optioned Montero back to Toledo as they have activated Alex Faedo from the 15-day injured list as he was dealing with right hip inflammation.

Tigers Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Alex Faedo

Faedo is in his third season with the Tigers originally a starter, in 2022 he made 12 starts going 1-5 with a 5.53 ERA, a 4.62 FIP, a 1.64 WHIP, a 4.2 BB/9, and a 7.4 K/9 in 53.2 innings. Last season, he made 15 appearances with 12 coming as starts going 2-5 with a 4.45 ERA, a 4.85 FIP, a 1.05 WHIP, a 2.8 BB/9, and an 8.1 K/9 in 64.2 innings. This season he’s made 21 appearances out of the bullpen before the injury going 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA, a 4.48 FIP, a 1.18 WHIP, a 3.4 BB/9, and a 7.5 K/9 in 34.2 innings. He’s made three appearances during his rehab stint with one of those coming as a start, he didn’t record a decision posting a 3.00 ERA, a 2.67 WHIP, a 12.0 BB/9, and a 12.0 K/9 in three innings.  

RHP – Keider Montero

Montero suffered the loss yesterday going 4.1 innings giving up five runs on five hits; he walked three and struck out six. He is now 0-2 in two big league games with a 9.35 ERA, a 6.50 FIP, a 1.62 WHIP, a 4.2 BB/9, and 11.4 K/9 in 8.2 innings. At Triple-A Toledo he’s made 13 starts going 1-4 with a 5.03 ERA, a 1.70 WHIP, a 5.6 BB/9, and a 10.1 K/9 in 48.1 innings.
