The Detroit Tigers picked up a win over the Philadelphia Phillies last night in the middle game of their three-game series behind a dominant start from Tarik Skubal who went seven shutout innings giving up three hits; he walked one and struck out seven, and he lowered his ERA to 2.32. On the side, the Phillies had Ranger Suarez on the bump posting a league-best ERA but that rose to a 2.01 after he gave up four runs on nine hits in six innings. The Tigers got four runs in the fifth inning behind an RBI groundout by Matt Vierling a two RBI single by Andy Ibanez, and an RBI triple by Riley Greene. The Tigers had today as an open spot for who would pitch but the decision has been made as Tyler Holton will make the start as an opener with newly called-up Keider Montero getting the bulk role either coming in in the second or third inning as he has been called up from Triple-A Toledo. Holton will oppose former Tiger Spencer Turnbull who goes for the Phillies. With the move, the Tigers have optioned Easton Lucas to Triple-A Toledo.
