
The Detroit Tigers will start a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight. The Tigers dropped their weekend series to the Cincinnati Reds, who outscored them 24-16. It was only the Tigers’ fifth series loss out of 23 series this season. The Tigers claimed right-handed reliever Carlos Hernandez off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies. Hernandez doesn’t have any minor league options left so he will join the Tigers. Their 40-man roster is now full. The corresponding move is right-handed reliever Tyler Owens was optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Their was thoughts Will Vest may head to the injured list with a right pinky finger injury in which left Sunday’s game in the eighth inning but he avoids it.
