Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers yesterday beat the Minnesota Twins 12-3 with a great start by Casey Mize who went 4.2 innings, he didn’t allow a run on two hits; he walked two and struck out four. The Tigers had 14 hits led by Matt Vierling who went 2-2 with four RBI, Keston Hiura who went 3-5 with a run scored, and Josh Crouch who went 1-1 with a three-run home run. Today the Tigers will take on the New York Mets in Grapefruit League play with Matt Manning getting the ball making his fifth start, he is 1-0 with a 3.75 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 12 innings. Today they reassigned six players to Minor League camp bringing their roster down to 34 with a week left before Opening Day.

Tigers Roster Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Trey Wingenter

Wingenter this spring has appeared in six games going 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings. Last season he appeared in 17 games with the Tigers and went 1-0 with a 5.82 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 17 innings.

LHP – Andrew Vasquez

Vasquez this spring in six games went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Last season in 42 games he went 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

C – Anthony Bembroom

Bembroom this spring played in 14 games, and he hit .188 with a .725 OPS, he had one home run, one RBI, three runs scored, and two walks. Last season with Baltimore he played in six games and hit .182 with a .490 OPS; he had just two walks.

INF – Keston Hiura

Hiura signed with the Tigers on February 19th and in 18 games this spring he hit .323 with a .966 OPS; he had one double, one triple, two home runs, nine RBI, four runs scored, and two walks. Last season Hiura played at Triple-A and in the rookie league for the Brewers, he played in 88 games and hit .311 with a .960 OPS; he had 13 doubles, 23 home runs, 79 RBI, 56 runs scored, and 32 walks.

OF – Bligh Madris

Madris in 18 games this spring hit .350 with a 1.219 OPS; he had one double, two home runs, three RBI, seven runs scored, and five walks. Last season he played in 12 games with the Houston Astros, and he hit .154 with a .459 OPS; he had one double, four runs scored, and four walks.

OF – Ryan Vilade

Vilade this spring played in 19 games, and he hit .207 with a .514 OPS; he had one double, three RBI, four runs scored, three walks, and a stolen base. Last season he played at Triple-A for the Pirates and in 122 games he hit .271 with a .752 OPS; he had 23 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 56 RBI, 64 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 64 walks.
