The Detroit Tigers are coming off a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros yesterday. Today they will take on the Minnesota Twins and they will have Kenta Maeda on the mound to make his third start of the spring, he is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA, a 1.60 WHIP, and three strikeouts in five innings. Before today’s game, the Tigers trimmed their roster down to 44 as they reassigned/optioned ten players.

Tigers Roster Moves By The Numbers
Mason Englert
Englert this spring has appeared in four games posting a 4.70 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, ten strikeouts, and two saves in 7.2 innings. Last season at Toledo he made nine appearances going 1-0 with a 7.15 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. With the Tigers, he made 31 appearances with one of those coming as a start going 4-3 with a 5.46 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 56 innings.
Wilmer Flores
Flores is the Tigers fifth-ranked prospect by ITD. This spring he made four appearances going 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Flores last season reached as high as Double-A Erie making 18 starts going 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 80.2 innings. He will start the 2024 season with Triple-A.
Keider Montero
Montero this spring made three appearances going 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, six strikeouts and a save in six innings. He reached Triple-A Toledo last season making eight appearances with seven of those coming as starts he went 5-2 with a 5.14 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in 42 innings.
Dillon Dingler
Dingler is the Tigers tenth-ranked prospect by ITD. Dingler in 11 games hit .286 with a .921 OPS; he had one home run, two RBI, five runs scored, three walks, and a hit by pitch. At Triple-A last season he hit .202 with a .650 OPS; he had seven doubles, one triple, three home runs, nine RBI, 14 runs scored, and eight walks.
Eddys Leonard
Leonard played in 12 games and he hit .348 with a .984 OPS; he had three doubles, one home run, seven RBI, five runs scored, and a walk. Last season at Triple-A Toledo after being acquired from the Dodgers hit .302 with a .905 OPS; he had ten doubles, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 30 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 17 walks.
Wenceel Perez
Perez this spring played in 12 games and hit .263 with a .785 OPS; he had one home run, two RBI, three runs scored, and three walks. Last season at Triple-A Toledo he hit .264 with a .496 OPS; he had 13 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 27 walks.
Devin Sweet
Sweet this spring appeared in four games going 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA, a 2.45 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. He was claimed off waivers by the Tigers from the San Francisco Giants, last season he pitched for the Seattle Mariners and Oakland A’s making seven appearances going 1-0 with a 10.38 ERA, a 1.84 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 8.2 innings. In the minors, he pitched at Double-A for Seattle and Triple-A for both Seattle and Oakland making 36 appearances going 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 44 innings.
Sean Guenther
Guenther this spring made five appearances going 0-0 with a 5.79 ERA, a 2.14 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Last season he pitched at Single-A Lakeland, Double-A Erie, and Triple-A Toledo making 39 appearances and six of those came as starts going 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 62 strikeouts in 50.2 innings.
Donny Sands
Sands this spring played in seven games and hit .125 with a .425 OPS; he had two walks. Last season he played at Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo and he hit .230 with a .678 OPS; he had 24 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored, one stolen base, and 45 walks.
TJ Hopkins
Hopkins was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco Giants and this spring he played in seven games and hit .333 with a 1.011 OPS; he had two doubles, two RBI, and two walks. Last season he spent time in the Reds system playing at Triple-A and in 95 games he hit .308 with a .924 OPS; he had 18 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 55 RBI, 63 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 55 walks. With the Reds he played in 25 games and hit .171 with a .398 OPS; he had one RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base, and two walks.
