Today the Detroit Tigers claimed infielder Buddy Kennedy off waivers. Kennedy had been placed on waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals designated him for assignment earlier this week. In a corresponding move for the Tigers to make room for Kennedy, they designated infielder Andre Lipcius for assignment.

Kennedy was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round of the 2017 draft. He made his big-league debut on June 17, 2022, he went 1-3 with a run scored and a walk. Kennedy was claimed off waiver on September 9, 2023, by the Oakland A’s then he was claimed by the Cardinals on October 25, 2023.
Andre Lipcius
Lipcius was drafted by the Tigers in the third round of the 2019 draft. In the Tigers system from 2019-2023, he played in 421 games and slashed .266/.358/.409 with a .767 OPS; he had 88 doubles, eight triples, 38 home runs, 212 RBI, 223 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, and 220 walks.
