The offseason is underway, and free agents can officially sign on next week, but trades can happen today. The Detroit Tigers are the first team to make a move as they went out and acquired a bat from the Milwaukee Brewers in Mark Canha in exchange for minor league pitcher RHP Blake Holub.

Mark Canha
The Florida Marlins drafted Canha in the seventh round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in 2015 with the Oakland A’s where he spent the first seven years of his career before joining the New York Mets in 2022. and he was there until midway through 2023 before landing in Milwaukee for the remainder of the season, and now he will be a Tiger in 2024. Last season between the two teams, he slashed .262/.355/.400 with a .755 OPS; he had 25 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 62 RBI, 51 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and 49 walks. With the Brewers, he played in 50 games and slashed .287/.373/.427 with a .800 OPS; he had ten doubles, five home runs, 33 RBI, 23 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 17 walks. His career slash line is .250/.349/.422 with a .772 OPS; he has 156 doubles, 14 triples, 113 home runs, 417 RBI, 468 runs scored, 43 stolen bases, and 352 walks over nine seasons.
Blake Holub
Holub, in 2023, spent time with High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie. Combined, he made 48 appearances, going 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, a 1.2 HR/9, a 2.3 BB/9, and 10.5 K/9 in 65.1 innings of work. With Double-A, he appeared in 30 games, going 1-3 with a 3.79 ERA; he had a 1.21 WHIP, a 1.3 HR/9, a 2.9 BB/9, and a 9.8 K/9.
