Detroit Tigers Prospect Check-In: Week 5

The Detroit Tigers this past week faced the Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Tampa Bay Rays to finish Grapefruit League play. They went 5-1 losing to only the Mets. They finished 20-9-3 in Grapefruit League play. Yesterday they had an exhibition tune-up against the Tampa Bay Rays which they ended up tying 3-3.

Detroit Tigers Top 10 Prospects Check-In

OF – Max Clark

Clark didn’t play this spring. He is likely to start the season at Single-A Lakeland.

2B/3B – Colt Keith

Keith last week played in six games going 3-16 with a home run, two RBI, one run scored, and a walk. He finished the spring hitting .241 with a .658 OPS; he had two doubles, one home run, nine RBI, three runs scored, and four walks. He will start the season with the Tigers.   

RHP – Jackson Jobe

Jobe only pitched once this spring going one inning, he didn’t allow a run or a hit; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out two as well as picking up a save. He will start in 2024 at Double-A Erie.

2B – Jace Jung

Jung played in three games last week going 0-1 with a walk. He finished the spring hitting .318 with a .884 OPS; he had one home run, five RBI, five runs scored, and four walks. He will start the season with Triple-A Toledo as he works at third base.

RHP – Wilmer Flores

Flores finished the spring making four appearances posting a 5.40 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings. He will start the season at Triple-A Toledo.

RHP – Ty Madden

Madden finished the spring 1-0 in three appearances with a 0.00 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings. He will start in 2024 at Triple-A Toledo.

OF – Justyn Henry Malloy

In four games last week Malloy went 3-12 with a run scored, and a walk. He finished the spring hitting .260 with a .799 OPS; he had one double, three home runs, three RBI, eight runs scored, six walks, and a stolen base. He will start in 2024 at Triple-A Toledo.

INF – Kevin McGonigle

McGonigle didn’t play this spring and will start this season at Single-A Lakeland.

OF – Parker Meadows

Meadows played in five games last week going 5-15 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base. He finished Spring Training hitting .358 with a 1.072 OPS; he had three doubles, one triple, four home runs, six RBI, 11 runs scored, three walks, and three stolen bases. He will be patrolling center field for the Tigers   

C – Dillon Dingler

Dingler played in two games last week and went 0-3. He finished the spring hitting .238 with a .751 OPS; he had one home run, two RBI, seven runs scored, and four walks. He will start in 2024 at Triple-A Toledo.

Week Ahead:

This coming week the Detroit Tigers will take on the Chicago White Sox to start the 2024 season. The Tigers Triple-A affiliate will face off for three games with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds who are the affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, and they feature the Brewers second-ranked prospect by ITD and the 37th overall prospect catcher Jeferson Quero, ITD’s fourth-ranked Brewers prospect Tyler Black who also ranks as the 46th overall prospect, the Brewers sixth-ranked prospect RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez, the and seventh prospect LHP Robert Gasser. The Schedule is

Sunday – vs. Nashville – 2:05 PM EST
