MLB Game Recap

The Astros broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with a solo home run. They added another run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly. The Tigers made it interesting in the ninth with a solo home run from Dillon Dingler, his 19th of the season. Riley Greene then singled, but Colt Keith grounded into a double play to end the game.

Troy Melton went six innings, allowing a run on two hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out six. Kyle Finnegan and Tyler Holton kept it a one-run game with scoreless seventh and eighth innings. Kenley Jansen allowed a run in the ninth, allowing two hits.

Standout Performer

Riley Greene was the only hitter in the Tigers lineup to have two hits. The rest of the team combined for three hits.

Key News & Notes

Dillon Dingler finished third in the All-Star voting for the American League. It’s crazy to think that he’s not a finalist, as Shea Langeliers and Alejandro Kirk are the final two. Entering last night, he led AL catchers in batting average, OPS, RBI, and WRC+. He was second in the league in runs scored. It’s absolutely insane that a guy like that isn’t an All-Star. Cases can also be made for Riley Greene and Kevin McGonigle, but Dinlger deserves it more than anyone.
