The Colorado Rockies today picked up a 12-5 win behind a strong big league debut from Chase Dollander. Dollander, who is the Rockies’ top prospect, went five innings. He gave up four runs on seven hits; he walked one and struck out six. The home run ball hurt him as he gave up two big flies. The Rockies return Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. They will do so with another prospect on their roster as they’re calling up outfielder Zac Veen. Veen thru seven games in Triple-A and is hitting .444 with a 1.294 OPS. He has four doubles, a triple, a home run, eight RBI, six runs scored, a stolen base, and three walks. Veen impressed in spring training, in which he hit .270 with a .812 OPS. He had four doubles, a triple, two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and seven walks.

Zac Veen

The Rockies drafted Veen ninth overall in the 2020 MLB draft. In 350 minor league games, he’s hit .264 with a .790 OPS. He has 71 doubles, 12 triples, 41 home runs, 209 RBI, 231 runs scored, 135 stolen bases, and 184 walks. Last season, he played in rookie ball, High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. In 65 games, he hit .258 with a .805 OPS. He had ten doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, and 30 walks.
