Cleveland Guardians Roster Moves 7/11/2025

Cleveland Guardians Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cleveland Guardians have announced a roster move ahead of their Friday doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. With MLB rules allowing teams to carry a 27th player during doubleheaders, the Guardians are taking advantage by recalling right-handed pitcher Nic Enright from Triple-A Columbus.

Nic Enright Joins Guardians for Spot Duty

Nic Enright, who has been pitching well in Triple-A, will provide additional bullpen depth for Friday’s games. The 27-year-old righty has worked his way back from a tough stretch earlier this season and recently delivered several strong outings for the Columbus Clippers. By bringing him up, the Guardians aim to better manage their pitching workload during the back-to-back games.

So far this season in Triple-A, Enright has posted a 1.38 ERA, in 13 appearances with a 1.08 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 13 innings. He’s also made 11 appearances for the Guardians already this season, going 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Doubleheader Brings Tactical Flexibility

Friday’s doubleheader allows the Guardians to make up ground in the American League Wild Card race. Sitting five games out of the final wild card spot entering play today, Cleveland wants to maintain its momentum coming out of the All-Star break. With the added roster spot, the club can better manage pitch counts and avoid overusing key bullpen pieces.

Moreover, the White Sox have struggled offensively for much of the season, which could allow Cleveland’s pitching to control the tempo. However, playing two games in one day always introduces the risk of fatigue, especially for relievers. That’s where Enright’s recall becomes strategically valuable.

Looking Ahead

After the doubleheader, MLB rules require teams to return to a 26-man roster. Therefore, this likely means a brief stay for Enright unless injuries or standout performances force the team to reevaluate.

Nonetheless, this call-up gives Enright another chance to prove he can contribute at the major league level. For the Guardians, it’s a low-risk, high-reward move that helps protect arms and keep the team fresh as they push toward the postseason.
