Cleveland Guardians Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cleveland Guardians today play a doubleheader against the Washington Nationals. Luis Ortiz starts game one for Cleveland while Jake Irvin goes for Washington. In game two, Ben Lively goes for the Guardians against Brad Lord for the Nationals. With today being a doubleheader, the roster expands to 27 for both teams. The Guardians are recalling right-handed pitcher Zak Kent from Triple-A Columbus. Kent has appeared in one game with Cleveland this season, going three innings, giving up one run on three hits. He walked two and struck out four. In eight games at Triple-A Columbus, going 0-1 with a 1.54 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 11.2 innings.

Zak Kent

Kent has been in the Guardians system for two seasons. In his first season with the Cleveland organization, he appeared in 15 games, with five of those coming as starts between rookie ball and Triple-A. He went 2-1 with a 6.66 ERA, a 1.75 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. He’s played in six minor league seasons between the Rangers organization and the Guardians. Kent has made 91 appearances, with 63 of those coming as starts. Keny is 11-14 with a 4.20 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and 336 strikeouts in 296 innings.
