CJ’s Picks of the Day 5/3

CJ’s Picks of the Day 5/3

If you followed me yesterday both of my bets for the overs hit with the Rockies and Marlins game going over 7.5 runs and the Cubs and Mets game going over eight runs. If you bet them individually and did $10 you got $37.16, if you parlayed them you got $34.53. The parlay I had did not hit with the Cubs losing in extra innings as well as the Guardians losing. Today features a full slate with the first game starting at 2:20 PM EST between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, the final game of the day will start at 10:10 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves in what is expected to be a great series, so what are the picks for the day?

CJ’s Picks

Over 9 runs in Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers -122

The Braves to this point in the season have scored 157 runs, good enough for the fifth most in all of baseball while the Dodgers have scored 177 runs which leads all of baseball with their loaded lineup. With the Braves total they average 5.4 runs a game while the Dodgers average 5.3 runs a game. The pitching matchup is Charlie Morton for the Braves who has a 3.60 ERA while the Dodgers will have Gavin Stone on the mound who has a 4.68 ERA. This seems like the game where we get runs out of the three games coming up this weekend, so with that, I love the over in this one

Total: $10 to win $18.19

Over 5.5 strikeouts for Tanner Houck –125

Houck is getting the start for the Red Sox and he is facing one of the hottest teams in baseball the Twins who have won ten straight games and in those ten games, they’ve outscored their opponents 79-36 during that time. Now here is why I love the Houck over strikeouts, the Twins this season ranked tenth in the league with the most strikeouts with a total of 279 which equates to a 9.3 average per game. Houck this season has 41 strikeouts which puts him tied for 13th in all of baseball and tied for sixth in the American League, he averages 6.8 strikeouts a game, however, when he faces a team for the first time 8.75 strikeouts per game, he has faced the Angels and Guardians twice and that saw his strikeouts lower. The way Houck has pitched to this point with the movement on his pitchers especially against righties will lead to him with a lineup that has quite a few righties he will hit the over.

Total: $10 to win $18

Parlay Total: $10 to win $32.75

CJ’s Parlay of the Day

I have a four-team parlay for today with the way games have been going and the pitching matchups today. The first team I am taking for the parlay is the Pittsburgh Pirates money line to beat the Colorado Rockies, the Pirates have been on a downward slide despite a hot start, but they have Martin Perez on the mound who has been one of their better pitchers, and let’s be honest the Rockies aren’t a great team especially to this point of the season, so I lean Pirates to win. The second team is the Oakland A’s money line over the Miami Marlins, the A’s are coming off a series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates and have won seven of their last ten, the Marlins have won three straight games for the first time this season but the A’s are a hotter team and with the pitching matchup of JP Sears against Ryan Weathers, I give the edge to the A’s tonight. The third team is the Toronto Blue Jays on the money line, they are facing Patrick Corbin for the Washington Nationals who has a 6.82 ERA, and the Blue Jays have Yusei Kikuchi going, I expect that game to not be close and the Blue Jays lineup to be clicking against Corbin. The final team to take on the money line to complete the parlay is the Cleveland Guardians who have Tanner Bibee on the mound, the Guardians are 6-0 in games started by Bibee and they score 7.1 runs a game when he starts, while they face the Los Angeles Angels who have Jose Soriano making his fifth start of the season, the Angels are 0-4 in games he starts and in those four starts, he gives up an average of three runs a game so with the averages the Guardians should come out on top to complete the parlay.

Total: $10 to win $64.17
