CJ’s Picks of the Day 5/2

CJ’s Picks of the Day 5/2

It’s a light slate in the MLB tonight with only six games on the schedule and five of them will take place in the afternoon with the Cleveland Guardians and Houston Astros playing at 8:10 PM. So with a light schedule, what are some options to bet on tonight?

CJ’s Picks

Over 7.5 runs in Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins -115

The Colorado Rockies rank 25th in the league in runs scored with an average of 3.7 runs per game while the Marlins rank 24th with an average of 3.5 runs per game. Normally that would say take the under however the pitching matchup in this game features Edward Cabrera who posts a 5.28 ERA entering today’s game in his last two starts he has combined to allow nine runs with those starts coming against the Chicago Cubs and the Washington Nationals. The Rockies pitcher is Peter Lambert who has a 4.67 ERA The main reason for that is back on April 21st he went three innings in his lone start giving up six runs on six hits. This could end up being a game that ends at 9-6 so the over 7.5 runs would hit by that metric.

Total: $10 to win $18.69

Over 8 runs in Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets -118

The Chicago Cubs have scored 150 runs this season which is ninth in all of baseball, and they average 4.8 runs per game while the Mets rank 18th with 128 runs and an average of 4.2 runs per game. Much like the Marlins and Rockies this game features two starters with high ERAs, the Cubs have Ben Brown who has a 4.30 ERA, and his last time out he faced the Red Sox giving up three runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings. The Mets starting pitcher will be Adrian Houser who posts an 8.37 ERA through five starts over his last two starts he has a 15.12 ERA giving up eight runs to the Dodgers and six runs to the Cardinals. The Cubs have a good lineup and based on Houser’s trend over the last two starts they could cover the over by themselves but I’d expect the Mets to put up a couple of runs to clear the over in this game.

Total: $10 to win $18.47

Parlay Total: $10 to win $34.53

CJ’s Parlay of the Day

The three teams I’d take to win today are the Cubs, Rangers, and the Guardians. Starting with the Cubs as I said above based on Houser’s last two starts I’d expect the Cubs lineup to hit him hard and put up quite a few runs and they’ll ultimately win the game. The Rangers will be sending their top pitcher in Nathan Eovaldi and he’s going up against Mitchell Parker who is making his fourth start although he has pitched well only giving up two runs to the Dodgers, no runs to the Astros, and one run to the Marlins this Rangers team can hit and I’d expect they’d get to Parker and give Eovaldi a lead which will result in the Rangers winning the game. The Guardians are one of the best teams in baseball to start the 2024 season and that’s even after losing their ace Shane Bieber, today Logan Allen gets the ball for them and he is 3-1 with a 5.46 ERA, this Astros lineup hasn’t gotten off to the start they thought and are ten games under .500 they will have Spencer Arrighetti on the mound and he has 10.97 ERA and he’s had a tough time facing tough lineups in the Royals, Braves, and Cubs; tonight that will continue against the Guardians which will lead them to a win.

Total: $10 to win $60.17
