Noelvi Marte – Third base

The Reds have optioned Noelvi Marte to the Louisville Bats today March 10, 2025. So far this spring Noelvi Marte has struggled at the plate. In 20 at-bats he has three hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs. He has a batting average of .150 over those at-bats. In 66 games last year with the Reds he had a .210 batting average and a slash line of .248/.301/.549. He did have four home runs, 18 RBIs, and nine steals last year.

Connor Phillips – Right-Hand Pitcher

The Cincinnati Reds have optioned Phillips to the Louisville Bats today, March 10th, 2025. This move was made ahead of their game with the Padres. Phillips has struggled with his control this spring issuing six walks over the 4.1 innings worked. He leaves camp with an 8.31 ERA after appearing in three games. Noelvi Marte can relate to such struggles, as he too has faced challenges this season. Unfortunately for Phillips, it seems he has continued his performance from last year. He left off with Louisville where he finished with an 8.01 ERA and 60 walks over 78.2 innings of work.

Tyler Callihan – Second Base

The Reds have optioned Callihan to the Louisville Bats today March 10th, 2025. This spring in 17 at-bats Callihan had three hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs. His performance mirrored struggles similar to those faced by fellow player Noelvi Marte. He leaves big league camp with a dismal .176 batting average. He returns to Triple-A where he finished out his season last year.

Yosver Zulueta – Right-Hand Pitcher

The Reds have optioned Zulueta to the Louisville Bats today ahead of their game with the Padres. Zulueta struggled this spring pitching in two games over two innings finishing with a 13.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and only striking out three. Like Noelvi Marte, Zulueta has found this season challenging. Last year he did appear in 12 games for the Reds, throwing 16.1 innings of work. He did not factor in any decisions but did have a 4.96 ERA last year with the big club.

Rece Hinds – Outfielder

The Cincinnati Reds have optioned Hinds to Triple-A today March 10th, 2025 ahead of their game with the Padres. Hinds has had 14 at-bats this spring with three runs scored, three hits, and one RBI. He leaves camp with a batting average of .214 on his way back to Louisville. Rece had five home runs last season while with the Reds and finished with a .261 batting average over a 24-game span.

Overview:

Today’s roster moves help trim the roster down closer to the opening day roster. The choice to option Noelvi Marte today March 10th, 2025 is a complete turnaround. This is different from where the team sat last year. He was suspended for his PED use for 80 games then. The prize return in the Luis Castillo trade certainly seems to be heading in the wrong direction right now. Noelvi Marte’s growth will be critical for future Reds’ success. The Reds roster continues to take shape. With just over two weeks before opening day, more moves are to come in the following days. Noelvi Marte’s progression will be crucial for the team’s success.
