The Cincinnati Reds were eliminated from postseason contention last night with their 7-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Reds have been dealing with some losses, including Brandon Williamson, who will need Tommy John surgery, which will put his 2025 season into question. With the Reds’ postseason chances over, they are taking a look at some other pieces, as they recalled Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville and optioned Casey Legumina to Louisville.
RHP – Yosver Zulueta
Zulueta was signed as an international free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, he spent the 2020 season undergoing Tommy John surgery. He would be claimed by the Reds this season on March 28th, he’s appeared in nine games for the Reds this season posting a 5.54 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, a 4.2 BB/9, and a 9.7 K/9 in 13 innings. At Louisville this season in 40 appearances he went 4-2 with a 3.83 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, a 5.3 BB/9, and a 10.8 K/9 in 54 innings.
RHP – Casey Legumina
Legumina was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB Draft. In November of 2022, he was traded to the Reds for Kyle Farmer. He pitched last night going 1.2 innings giving up an unearned run on one hit; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out two. This season he’s appeared in six games and didn’t record a decision, he has an 8.68 ERA, a 5.42 FIP, a 1.9 BB/9, and a 6.8 K/9 in 9.1 innings. Last season in 11 games he went 1-0 with a 5.68 ERA, a 6.73 FIP, a 1.97 WHIP, a 6.4 BB/9, and a 7.8 K/9 in 12.2 innings.
