Cincinnati Reds Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Reds and Cardinals game was postponed yesterday due to rain. Today, they will play a day-night doubleheader. Given the doubleheader, the teams both will get an expanded roster spot or taxi squad guy for the day. Ahead of today’s game, the Reds are calling up both Chase Petty and Tyler Callihan for the game. The Reds are putting Jeimer Candelario on the 10-day injured list.

Tyler Callihan

The Reds have recalled Callihan from the Louisville Bats today. The second baseman will start in left field in game one of the doubleheader against the Cardinals. Callihan has played in 24 games this year in Triple-A. He has a .303 batting average and a .938 OPS this season. He has four home runs, four doubles, two triples, and six steals.

Jeimer Candelario

The Reds have placed Candelario on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar spine strain retroactive to April 28th. In 22 games this year, Candelario has a .113 batting average and a .411 OPS. He has two doubles, two home runs, ten RBI, three runs scored, and nine walks. He needs to get back on track after the injury. Playing time will be hard to come by with an under .200 batting average.
