Cincinnati Reds Roster Moves 4/19

Cincinnati Reds Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cincinnati Reds are playing five hundred baseball right now and are set to start the three-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels. They just came off a disappointing three-game series where they were swept in Seattle against the Mariners. They only scored five runs in three games while they allowed 17 runs. Overall not a great three-game stretch, hopefully, the team can right the ship against the 9-10 Angels this weekend. Today ahead of the series opener they announced a couple of roster moves.

SS – Livan Soto

The Reds claimed Soto off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles today and assigned him to Triple-A to play with the Louisville Bats. Soto is 23 years old and played in four games last season with the Los Angeles Angels. He had nine at-bats, two hits, two runs scored, three walks, and two strikeouts. He slashed .222/.417/.222 with a .639 OPS on the year. He started this season off with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees for the Los Angeles Angels, before being claimed by the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles assigned him to Triple-A to play for the Norfolk Tide. In total, he has played in 10 games in the minors this year. He has 32 at-bats, three runs scored, eight hits, three doubles, one home run, three RBIs, five walks, one steal, and six strikeouts. He has slashed .250/.342/.438 with a .780 OPS on the year combined in Triple-A.

RHP – Tejay Antone

The Reds transferred Antone from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list after having right shoulder surgery. He pitched in four games this year without recording a win or loss. He only worked in two innings allowing two hits, one earned run, four walks, and struck out two. He has a 4.50 ERA and a 3.00 WHIP on the year.

Wrap Up:

The Reds need to get their bats going and need to get the bullpen figured out if they intend to make a serious push in the National League Central this year. Antone was an arm in the bullpen the team had hoped would play a key role this season to bridge the gap between the starting rotation and closer Alexis Diaz. The team like it has all year will need to continue to address the adversity these injuries bring to them as they await someone to step up and prove they can be relied on to help this bullpen staff.
