Cincinnati Reds Roster Moves 4/14/25

Cincinnati Reds Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cincinnati Reds have won five of their last six heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners. They just swept the Pittsburgh Pirates and, before that, took two of three from the San Francisco Giants. During their off day today, they have placed Sam Moll on the injured list with a shoulder issue. With an 8-8 record, the Reds are hoping to keep the winning ways going. While Moll going on the injured list hurts, there could be help on the way before the series with Seattle.

Sam Moll – LHP

The Cincinnati Reds have placed Moll on the 15-day injured list. This change is retroactive to April 11th due to a left shoulder impingement. So far this year, Moll has appeared in three games for the Reds. He has pitched two innings with an 18.00 ERA, 3.00 WHIP, and allowing a .375 batting average against to start the year. Last season, Moll appeared in 48 games with a 3-2 record. He pitched in 37.2 innings with 11 holds, a 3.35 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a .201 batting average against. Hopefully, this season’s early struggles have more to do with his shoulder health than a new trend. Moll will more than likely require a rehab stint. The team will determine when he is ready for live game action. He could then perhaps rejoin the big league club.

Next Move Speculation

While the Reds have not announced a move to replace Moll as of right now. Alexis Diaz was in the clubhouse at his old locker Sunday during the series finale with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched back-to-back games in Triple-A for the Louisville Bats. He is expected to be activated before the game Tuesday night. Diaz appeared in five games at the Triple-A level this year. He has pitched five innings, giving up six hits, three earned runs, four walks, and striking out eight. He has a 5.40 ERA, a 2.00 WHIP, and a .286 batting average against while in Triple-A. Manager Terry Francona mentioned yesterday that Diaz feels ready to return. However, the team has yet to make a final decision as of Monday, just after 1 PM.
