The Cincinnati Reds roll into Baltimore with a 9-10 record. They sit third in the NL Central. They are preparing for their three-game series with the Orioles. The Reds look to right the ship after losing two straight games against the Mariners last series. Ahead of today’s game they have announced they are placing Nick Lodolo on the paternity list. They have recalled Carson Spiers to take his roster spot from Triple-A Louisville before the game today. The Reds begin their nine game road trip today in Baltimore. They will then head to Miami for three games. Finally, they will finish up in Colorado before returning home.

Nick Lodolo

Lodolo has made four starts for the Reds this year. He has two wins and one loss on the season. Lodolo has pitched in 23.1 innings this year with a 2.31 ERA and a 0.81 WHIP. Lodolo has only allowed two walks this season to 14 strikeouts. He has held opponents to a .198 batting average so far this year. Lodolo has given up three home runs in his four starts. He will look to pick up where he left off once he returns to the team.

Carson Spiers

The Reds have recalled the right hand pitcher from Triple-A to replace Lodolo on the roster. He has made two starts this year for the Reds already. He has lost both starts and allowed a 4.82 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a .242 batting average against this year. He’s made one start for Louisville in Triple-A. He pitched six innings gave up five runs on seven hits, and one walk.
