The kickoff to the 2025 season is just a day away. The Cincinnati Reds’ transaction today looks familiar after an injury-riddled 2024. The Reds kick off their season on Thursday, March 27th, against the San Francisco Giants at home. Unfortunately, they will be without key players and new additions like Austin Hays and Closer Alexis Diaz.

Austin Hays – OF

The Cincinnati Reds have placed Hays on the 10-day injured list. This is retroactive to March 24th, 2025, due to a left calf strain. Hays was signed as a free agent this winter. Hays finished spring training with a .310 batting average and a 1.060 OPS. Hay added 13 hits, three home runs, seven runs scored, and drove in 14 runners.

Alexis Diaz -RHP

The Reds have placed Diaz on the 15-day injured list retroactive to March 24, 2025. Due to his left hamstring strain suffered this spring. Diaz appeared in four games this spring for the Reds. He pitched in 3.1 innings, recording a 13.50 ERA and a 3.20 WHIP

Andrew Abbott – LHP

The Reds have placed Abbott on the 15-day injured list retroactive to March 24, 2025. He is going on the IL with a left shoulder rotator cuff strain. Abbott pitched seven innings over two games this spring for the Reds. He lost one game, struck out five, and finished spring training with a 2.57 ERA.

Rhett Lowder – RHP

The Cincinnati Reds placed Lowder on the 15-day injured list retroactive to March 24, 2025. Due to his right forearm strain. Lowder pitched in six games this spring, throwing 30.2 innings. He finishes spring training with two wins, two losses, a 1.17 ERA, 22 strikeouts, and a 1.27 WHIP.

Tyler Stephenson – C

The Cincinnati Reds have placed Stephenson on the 10-day injured list retroactive to March 24, 2025. The catcher is suffering from a left oblique strain. This spring, Stephenson has had 22 at-bats. Stephenson scored three runs and hit five times. He recorded one home run and two RBIs. He has a .227 batting average.

Austin Wynns – C

The Reds have selected the contract of Wynns from the Louisville Bats. Wynns had 23 at-bats this spring with the Reds. Wynn had a .217 batting average. He had three runs scored, five hits, one home run, and four RBI.
