The Chicago White Sox enter their game with Red Sox this afternoon with a 4-15 record. They have lost eight of their last 10 games. They announced today that starting pitcher Martin Perez is heading to the 15 day injured list. This is happening ahead of game two of four with the Red Sox. The White Sox will finish the series with Boston. They will then remain on the road for six more games. After that, they will return home. They will make a three game stop in Minnesota. Then they will play three against the Athletics. This schedule will wrap up their 10 game road trip.

Martin Perez – LHP

The White Sox have placed Perez on the 15 day injured list. He has left elbow inflammation. This comes ahead of game two of the series. Perez has a 1-1 record this year through four starts. He has pitched 20 innings allowing a 3.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a .197 batting average against. Perez has allowed 11 walks and struck out 18 as well during those four games.

Juan Carela – RHP

The White Sox have signed Carela to a minor league contract before today’s game. Carela has signed the deal and is heading to the Arizona Complex League for the White Sox. He had a 7-7 record in the minors last year in 23 starts.

Jared Shuster – LHP

The White Sox have recalled Shuster from the Charlotte Knights in Triple-A. Shuster has a 3-0 record for Charlotte in six games pitched this year. He has worked in 11.1 innings with a 1.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and held opponents to a .238 batting average on the year in Triple-A.
