The Chicago White Sox have optioned Oscar Colas today to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. The White sox are looking to improve this season after a horrific 2024. Last year they were unable to break the 50-win mark and barely reached forty wins. They finished 2024 with a 41-121 record.

Oscar Colas

Oscar Colas has had a very quiet spring for the White Sox. which today resulted in Colas being optioned to Triple-A. The 26-year-old outfielder not cracking the opening-day roster is a little surprising. Honestly, this is given the expectations for the team for this season. This spring he only had 16 at-bats. He had two runs scored, four hits, and one RBI.

His .250 batting average and .708 OPS are not horrid. Especially for a team who failed to break 50 wins last year. Colas last season played in 13 games for the White Sox. He had four RBIs to go along with a .273 batting average and a slash line of .368/.273/.641 on the year.

With the Charlotte Knights in Triple-A last year he played in 109 games. Colas hit 21 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, and had 51 RBIs. Colas also had a .246 batting average to go along with a slash line of .332/.400/.732. If Oscar can prove he can hit for a better average, the White Sox might give him more playing time. They could offer him more time in the majors.

At 26 years old, the White Sox must determine his role in the future. The team is in the middle of a big rebuild. They must decide at this point whether Oscar is part of their long-term plans.
