The Chicago Cubs will start a three-game series this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles. The Cubs activated three of their newly acquired players before today’s game. Chicago acquired outfielder Willi Castro, right-hander Andrew Kittredge, and left-hander Taylor Rogers, all of whom are now active for today’s game. The Cubs optioned right-handed pitcher Gavin Hollowell and catcher Moises Ballesteros to Triple-A Iowa to make room on the roster.

Willi Castro

Castro, acquired from the Minnesota Twins yesterday, has played in 86 games this season. He’s hitting .245 with a .743 OPS. He has 15 doubles, two triples, ten home runs, 27 RBI, 48 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and 32 walks. Castro has played in 671 career games, hitting .248 with a .706 OPS. He has 107 doubles, 23 triples, 55 home runs, 222 RBI, 331 runs scored, 74 stolen bases, and 168 walks.

Andrew Kittredge

Kittredge, acquired from the Orioles on Wednesday, has appeared in 31 games this season. He’s 2-2 with a 3.45 ERA, a 3.48 FIP, a 1.09 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. In 286 career appearances, he’s 25-14 with a 3.44 ERA, a 3.83 FIP, a 1.19 WHIP, and 305 strikeouts in 316.2 innings.

Taylor Rogers

Rogers, acquired from the Cincinnati Reds, has appeared in 40 games this season. He’s 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA, a 4.12 FIP, a 1.46 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 33 innings. In 549 career appearances, he’s 30-36 with a 3.28 ERA, a 3.29 FIP, a 1.19 WHIP, and 607 strikeouts in 523.2 innings.

Gavin Hollowell

Hollowell in six games for the Cubs this season, posts a 1.23 ERA, a 3.91 FIP, a 1.23 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 7.1 innings. He also pitched in 20 games for Triple-A Iowa, going 1-2 with a 5.24 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts over 22.1 innings.

Moiss Ballesteros

Ballesteros is the 47th-ranked prospect in all of baseball. He played in six games in his first big league stint, hitting .222 with a .578 OPS. He had a double, six RBI, three runs scored, and two walks. In 86 games at Triple-A Iowa, he’s hitting .332 with a .889 OPS. He has 26 doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 57 RBI, 48 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 35 walks.
