The 11-7 Chicago Cubs were rained out tonight to start the four-game series with the Miami Marlins. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday to make up for it. The Marlins are 4-15 on the year, so hopefully, the Cubs can win another series to keep the early success rolling.
2B – Miles Mastrobuoni
The Cubs optioned Miles to Triple-A to play with the Iowa Cubs today. He has played in eight games with 12 at-bats without recording a hit and scoring two runs during his time with the Cubs.
RHP – James Taillon
The Cubs have activated Taillon from the 15-day injured list today. James Taillon was scheduled to take the mound tonight to make his season debut against the Marlins, but it will now just get pushed back a day. Taillon was effective in his 3.2-inning rehab start, allowing zero earned runs and only three hits. He hasn’t pitched besides at Triple-A all year.
3B – Patrick Wisdom
Wisdom was activated from the 10-day injured list today. He has played in nine games for Triple-A Iowas and has 27 at-bats, with 11 hits, four doubles, three home runs, and 10 RBIs. While with Iowa, he is slashing .407/.528/.889 and has a 1.417 OPS.
RHP – Julio Teheran
The Cubs signed Teheran to a minor league contract today. After a brief stint making one awful start for the New York Mets, Teheran will join the Cubs in the Minors to see if he can catch on with the club.
RHP – Hayden Wesneski
The Cubs optioned Hayden back to Iowa to play with the Triple-A Cubs. Hayden came up just for one game, and that game was great. He pitched four innings of scoreless baseball, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Wrap Up:
I’m glad to see Wesneski come up and have success. I’m shocked to see him sent right back down, but after pitching four innings, chances of him pitching again in the next few days are unlikely. Getting James Taillon back will be a boost to the rotation; let’s hope he stays healthy. Teheran, I don’t have much expectations for the minor league contract signee. Wisdom was off to a hot start with the Iowa Cubs; it would be great to see him continue that success.
