The Chicago Cubs return to Arizona. They have completed a two-game opening series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Today, they continue Cactus League play. They will take on the San Diego Padres today in Arizona. The Cubs return to Arizona, after being swept by the Dodgers in Tokyo and have announced two roster moves.

Jordan Wicks

The Chicago Cubs have optioned Jordan Wicks to Triple-A where he will start his year pitching for Iowa. Jordan Wicks ends his spring appearing in just three games for the Cubs, two of which he started. He earned one win and had a 2.08 ERA over 8.2 innings of work. Wicks made 10 starts last season for the Cubs ending with two wins and four losses. Over 46 innings last year he struck out 42 and walked 20.

Eli Morgan

The Cubs have optioned Eli Morgan to Triple-A where he will pitch for the Iowa Cubs. The Cubs traded for Morgan this off-season picking him up from the Cleveland Guardians. Morgan spent last year with the Guardians pitching in 32 games. He finished with three wins and a 1.93 ERA over 42 innings of work. He appeared in the first game of the two-game opening series. The series was in Tokyo against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In that game, he pitched 1.1 innings giving up one hit and recording one strikeout. With the team back stateside, Morgan will now report to camp with the Iowa Cubs. He will start his season in the minors for now.
