The Chicago Cubs head into tonight’s action with an 11-8 record. They lost game one of the three-game series with the Padres last night. They will look to even the series when they take the field tonight. The Cubs are sitting at the top of the NL Central right now. They have announced today that they have optioned Matt Shaw to Triple-A to continue his season with the Iowa Cubs. The Cubs will wrap up their series with the Padres. They will then head home to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks for three games. After this, they will host the Dodgers for two games.

Matt Shaw

The Chicago Cubs have optioned Matt Shaw to Triple-A today before their game with the Padres. Shaw has played in 18 games for the Cubs so far this year. He has 10 runs scored, one double, one home run, and three RBI. Shaw has a .172 batting average with a .535 OPS. He will return to the minors. He aims to improve his offense to match his performance at the end of last season with the Iowa Cubs.

Vidal Brujan

The Chicago Cubs have reinstated Brujan from the injured list ahead of the game with the Padres. Brujan has been on a rehab assignment in Iowa for the last three games. He has one double and three singles during those games. Brujan has a .308 batting average and a .693 OPS with Iowa. He will take over the duties at third for Shaw.

Eli Morgan

The Cubs have sent Morgan to the 15-day injured list today. Morgan has one loss on the season in 7.1 innings worked. He has a 12.27 ERA, a 2.05 WHIP, and allows a .375 batting average against.

Nate Pearson

The Cubs have optioned Pearson to Triple-A today. In eight games this year, Pearson has one loss in 8.2 innings pitched. He has a 10.38 ERA, a 2.31 WHIP, and a .361 average against.

Luke Little

The Cubs have recalled left-handed pitcher Little from Triple-A today ahead of their game. Little has pitched in four games for Iowa this year with a 3.86 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and a .077 average against.

Daniel Palencia

The Cubs have recalled right-hand pitcher Palencia from Triple-A ahead of tonight’s game. He has pitched in five games for Iowa this year. Palencia has one loss, a 2.25 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and a .267 average against in four innings this year.
