The Cincinnati Reds play a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals today. Due to the weather yesterday’s game was postponed. The rosters will expand to 27 tomorrow following yesterday’s postponement, which allows each team to make a call-up. The Reds are using theirs to call up the 99th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline in Chase Petty. Petty with make his big league debut in the game as he announced via his own Instagram. Petty will start game two. This season, five starts for the Louisville Bats, he is 0-2 with a 3.52 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 23 innings. The Reds are also calling up infielder Tyler Callihan. Callihan this season in 24 games at Louisville hit .303 with a .938 OPS. He had four doubles, two triples, four home runs, 12 RBI, 19 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 16 walks.

Chase Petty

The Minnesota Twins selected Petty with the 26th overall pick in the 2021 MLB draft. He made two appearances, with one of those coming as a starter with the Twins’ rookie ball team. Petty posted a 5.40 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and six strikeouts in five innings. The Twins traded Petty to the Reds. In four seasons in their organization, he made 76 appearances, he went 12-15 with a 3.42 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 319 strikeouts in 326.1 innings.
